How Women's Clothing Sizes Support Misogyny

Nearly everyone has had a conversation, at one time or another, about a woman's dress or pant size. You ask a man his pant size, and it is this completely reasonable waist/length number system such as 38/32. You as a woman and she says a size 16.

Men can order clothes in actual increments that mean they are likely to just buy something and have it fit.

Every single woman's item has to be tried on because what would be a 16 from one manufacturer is a 12 from another. And women do NOT get the variety of sizes that men do. All of our pants come in EXACTLY THREE LENGTHS. "Short/petite", "average/normal", and "tall". Women do not get the lux of being able to specify their waist size AND their length. GAWD FORBID. Try finding a size 16 in SHORT (it will never happen).

I want manufacturers of women's clothing to switch the system to ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS. And I want them to offer the same variety of sizes that men are allowed to have.

I would go one step further. All pants need to be waist/length/THIGH. And all shirts need to be CHEST/ARMLENGTH/Neck (where applicable). Dresses need to be CHEST/WAIST/ARMLENGTH (where applicable). These need to be listed in inches or metric, I don't care which. Any measurement that isn't needed can just have a dash (such as with shorts, length isn't needed).

I'd love for this to go viral. If you agree the women's sizes should be updated, then PLEASE reshare this. I am tired of the absurdity of dress sizes shifting over time. Let's just make them real measurements and get it over with! Please. Thanks.

"Goodbye, Little Yellow Bird" from The Portrait of Dorian Grey

The snow was very plentiful,
and crumbs were very few,
when a weather beaten sparrow through,
a mansion window flew,
Her eye fell on a golden cage,
a sweet love song she heard,
sung by a pet canary there,
a handsome yellow bird,
he said to her: miss sparrow,
I've been struck by cupids arrow,
would you share my cage with me,
She looked up his castle,
with its ribbon and its tassel,
and in a plaintive tones said she:
goodbye little yellow bird,
I'd rather brave the cold
on a leafless tree,
than a prisoner be,
in a cage of gold.

The spoiled and petted yellow bird,
could scarcely believe it true,
that a common sparrow should refuse,
a bird with blood so blue,
he told her the advantages,
of riches and of gold,
she answered that her liberties,
for gold could not be sold.
She said I must be going,
but he cried no no its snowing,
and the wintry windstorm blows,
stay with me my little deary,
for without you 'twould be dreary,
but she only sighed ah no.
Goodbye little yellow bird,
I'd gladly mate with you,
I love you little yellow bird,
but I love my freedom too,
so goodbye little yellow bird,
I'd rather brave the cold,
on a leafless tree,
than a prisoner be,
in a cage of gold.

DefCon 11 at the Alexis - Josh Sky

Josh, if you come across this, I hope you contact me. It was awesome meeting you this weekend at the Alexis. And no, I totally did not believe that you don't work out. No one has that body without the work. ;) Sitting by the pool for hours, and talking, made my evening. You gave me your number, and by the next day it was gone. I have no idea where it went. I hope you come across this random post, and contact me. You made my laugh:)
